Step into the woodland estate of Watts Gallery for an immersive guided nature walk exploring scent in the landscape, followed by a delightful Silent Pool Gin Tasting. This special summer event invites you to engage your senses—sight, smell, and taste—as we celebrate our current exhibition, Scented Visions: Smell in Art 1850-1915.
Begin your evening with a sensory-led woodland walk, guided by Watts Head Gardener Chris Sharples. As you walk through the estate, Chris will introduce you to the botanical aromas found in the landscape, from the earthy fragrance of ancient trees to the delicate scents of wildflowers and herbs. Discover how plants communicate through scent, how fragrances change with the seasons, and how some of these natural notes inspire both art and gin-making.
This walk offers a unique opportunity to explore the power of scent in nature, making a perfect connection to our Scented Visions exhibition, which delves into the historical and artistic significance of fragrance in painting and design.
Following the walk, indulge in an exclusive Silent Pool Gin Tasting. Crafted using a delicate blend of over 20 hand-selected botanicals, Silent Pool Gin is a true expression of the Surrey landscape. The expert team from Silent Pool Distillers will guide you through a tasting experience that highlights how aroma plays a crucial role in flavour, much like it does in art and nature.
