Join ceramicist Joshua Aubrook for an inspiring spring clay workshop at Watts Gallery.
Together, we will celebrate the ancient spirit of the season by crafting your very own ceramic green man wall hanging, a timeless symbol of rebirth, nature, and the vibrant energy of Beltane and Spring.
This hands-on workshop is perfect for both beginners and seasoned potters, offering a creative space to explore the rich symbolism of the Green Man—a mythical guardian of the forest.
Under the expert guidance of Joshua Aubrook, Watts Potter in Residence from 2018–2021, you’ll learn a variety of techniques to shape, carve, and texture clay, culminating in a one-of-a-kind piece that captures the essence of this legendary figure.
Joshua Aubrook is a British ceramicist based in South West London and specialises in clay casting, sculpture and throwing. Aubrook is inspired by the theological and historic artworks of Pre-Renaissance Europe. Centring idealism over realistic depiction in his forms, Aubrook creates ceramic objects and artworks which explore how the themes of faith, truth and the domestic are addressed creatively from the 12th century to the modern day. Aubrook holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Ceramics from the University for the Creative Arts and a Masters Degree in Ceramics from the Royal College of Art. Aubrook was the Watts Potter from 2018 – 2021 and is a founding member of Earthworks Ceramic Studios in Brixton, London.
