About Romero Potters: two years on

Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September 2024

Drop in from 10.15am to 4.45pm

Watts Gallery - Artists’ Village presents a group exhibition from the Romero Potters from The Grange in Bookham.

The Grange supports adults with learning disabilities to lead independent lives and provides, amongst a range of sessions, an opportunity to develop pottery skills. The potters are very excited to have their own exhibition at Watts Gallery, a place where they and their tutors feel a connection after attending workshops and visiting exhibitions, gaining pottery inspiration and advice.

The pottery evolved in The Grange’s summer house starting from a need during lockdown to use every available space. It has grown to provide 20 potters with the space and tuition to create beautiful pieces, both sculptural and functional.

Working in their tranquil sensory garden, the potters draw inspiration from their surroundings. Their exploration has led them to experiment with oxides, underglazes and more lately brush on glazes and fluxes to decorate their pieces.

This exhibition follows the potters on their journey of exploration and creative expression. The Grange is an organisation which prides itself on being person-centred and where independence is encouraged. Potters chose subjects important to them when creating their pieces.

Having exhibited at the Sunbury Gallery and The Lightbox gallery in collaborative exhibitions, the Romero Potters proudly present you with a collection of their work to enjoy at Watts Gallery.
