About the role

Watts Gallery Trust, a registered charity, has an exciting opening for the role of Head of Marketing and Admissions (maternity cover). As the Trust enacts its recent ten-year vision as a creative home for our local community, and three year strategy, we are looking for someone who is flexible and enjoys working in a leadership role in a fast-paced and changing environment. Working at the heart of a thriving cultural institution you will significantly grow audiences to the site, particularly our Creative Families and Art Loving Adult segments, through the marketing of key exhibitions and events, the Art for All by All community programme, the creation and distribution of digital content, engagement with the collection, site history and architecture, and the unveiling of G F Watts’s sculpture Physical Energy in the grounds of Limnerslease.

Responsible for admissions targets and ticketing systems, you will maximise income generation opportunities across platforms. The position will also play a key role in supporting the Watts Contemporary Gallery, Tea Shop and Shop in achieving an increase in trading activity and in assisting the Development team with campaign planning, all of which are pivotal to the future success of Watts Gallery - Artists’ Village.

Watts Gallery Trust is an independent charity established in 1904 to manage the legacy of George Frederic Watts OM RA, one of the leading artists of the nineteenth century. Today, Watts Gallery Trust is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation that oversees Watts Gallery - Artist’s Village is located in Compton, just outside Guildford across 18 acres of Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Consisting of Limnerslease, the Grade I listed Watts Chapel, the Pottery Building that formerly housed the Compton Potters Arts Guild, Watts Gallery and thriving Shop and Tea Shop is a leading regional visitor attraction. It has a dynamic and multi-sensory programme of creativity and making within its vision of Art for all by all. Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village strives to make art accessible to all through the collection and exhibitions, programming, contemporary art projects and community engagement and will continue building this through its vision, mission and values.
