Watts Gallery - Artists' Village is a registered charity which receives no regular statutory funding.
Revenue from ticket sales accounts for around 20% of our income, so we rely on the generosity of individuals, companies and foundations to support our work.
As a charity, we can participate in the government’s Gift Aid scheme which allows us to reclaim the tax you pay on your donation to us (subject to criteria).
Gift Aid is a scheme designed to enable eligible organisations to reclaim tax paid by their donors. This includes income tax and capital gains tax.
The government repays Gift Aid at the basic rate of Income Tax, resulting in an effective rate of 25% of the donations received.
If you are a UK Tax Payer you can boost your donation by 25p of Gift Aid for every £1 you donate. Gift Aid is reclaimed by the charity from the tax you pay for the current year. When you make your declaration you are able to Gift Aid that donation and any donations made in the future or have made in the past 4 years to Watts Gallery - Artists' Village. Your home address is needed to identify you as a current UK taxpayer.
As with all Gift Aided donations, donors are asked to notify us if they wish to cancel their declaration, change their name or home address, or no longer pay sufficient tax on income and/or capital gains to qualify.
If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.
To make the most of HMRC’s Gift Aid scheme, our Patron subscription is split into Benefit and Donation. The donation portion is an optional suggested amount for which Gift Aid provisions are eligible. Patronage may be purchased at the level of benefits with no further donation or by making a donation for the amount of your choosing.
Any amounts given over the cost of Benefits are given freely as a philanthropic donation to Watts Gallery - Artists' Village. It is only this gift that is eligible for Gift Aid.
The Gift Aid we receive from all eligible donations truly does make a difference to caring for our collection and buildings, as well as supporting our education, events and exhibition programmes.
