These small, press-moulded designs could be worn as pendants. They were sold as relatively inexpensive souvenirs of a visit to the Watts Gallery. Miniature versions of George Frederic Watts’s paintings, star signs and saints all appear on these small, yet carefully painted keepsakes. The most popular pendant designs were the scarab beetle, clover and the swastika: all ancient symbols of growth, prosperity and good luck.
